Being in the food business, I am often exposed to products in a 'raw' form that many consumers never have the opportunity, or desire, to come in contact with. I believe we should be more connected, rather than less connected, to the food(s) we eat each day. Supermarkets are in the business of getting the consumer to do just that, consume, and if they slapped a pretty animal-face on each film-wrapped slice of beef, pork, or chicken there would be far more spaghetti dinners sans the meatball.
